Sometime - SATB (Free!)
Sometime is based on a poem of the same name by Yahidit Kafri. Kafri is an Israeli poet and writer born in 1935, in the British Mandatory Palestine, which is now part of Israel. As a Jewish student living in the Southern United States, I, the composer, experienced antisemitism and witnessed it flourish globally. Within the United States alone, there has been the Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting, numerous bomb threats, Jewish cemeteries vandalized, college students threatened, and more. The piece serves as an ode to the hope that perhaps someday, the world will find peace; that one day all words of hate and war will transform into peace and become a distant memory.
Commissioned and premiered by Belmont University’s Chorale and University Singers under the Direction of Dr. Jane Warren in April 2022.
Due to permissions restrictions, this piece is free to perform for eductional purposes only.
