And Yet We Survive (ובכל זאת אנו שורדים) - Clarinet, French Horn, Trombone, Piano
*Parts will be sent within 48 business hours*
Throughout its history, Judaism has been relentlessly assailed by countless oppressors. Countless cultures and ethnic identities have come and gone during the almost 3000 years that Judaism is thought to have existed for, but through it all, Judaism has survived. Despite millenia of pogroms, genocides, and general religious persecution, the Jewish people have survived and continue to survive. Whether it is through G-d or the faith itself that it has resisted the sands of time is not for me to say. What I can say, however, is that the fact Judaism has survived is, in my opinion, a testament to the will and power of the Jewish faith.
This piece is a Klezmer-influenced tribute to the resilience that is so deeply engrained into the Jewish identity in spite of the hatred that Jews have faced and continue to face even after the Holocaust. Despite Nazi Germany's best attempts to obliterate Jewish culture (and alongside with it, Klezmer (Jewish Folk Music)), thanks to the great Klezmorim who survived the war and passed down their knowledge, Klezmer is still alive and continues to inspire many.
